It Was a Busy Morning Outside

It was a busy morning at Kate's house today and the boys looked like they were having a blast.
Dylan and Jorge were taking turns at pushing each other on the tractor; there was lots of chatting about what direction they should take and lots of laughter.

Riley was very happy playing 'peek a boo' with me, hiding behind the couch.

Kate has some wonderful resources for the children to use and I could see that they were all making the most of the great morning outside.
It's awesome to see everyone so settled and involved; the children are provided with the opportunity to learn with and along side others.

"Bubbles" @ Playgroup 21st June 2011

The Bubble Song - sung to twinkle, twinkle little star

Everybody look at me. Pretty bubbles you will see,

Red and green and yellow too, floating through the air for you,

Will they break before they land?

Can you catch one in your hand?

Bubble Solution Recipie

1/2 cup of dishwashing liquid

2 cups of water

2 teaspoons of sugar

Mix together gently until sugar dissolves, ready to use with bubble blowers - enjoy.

Play Group at the Park

It was such a beautiful morning we decided to move our play group to the park; and what a good idea it was too.

The children were able to run, climb, slide and have a play in the car.

It was a great opportunity for the children to explore using their large muscles, and to challenge themselves by persisting with the more difficult areas of the play ground.
It was loads of fun, I think we will definitely do this again another day.

Our visit to the Napier Fire Station

Hurry, Hurry goes the fire truck

Hurry, Hurry goes the fire truck
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding

Quickly, Quickly squirt the water

Qucikly, Quickly squirt the water

Quickly, Quickly squirt the water

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding

Today we learnt about smoke alarms and how we should crawl out of the house if we hear the loud 'beep, beep'. We had a turn at dressing as a fire-person, then Flash and fireman Jaime showed us how to squirt the huge hose, then we got to go inside the fire truck.

Just to let the parents know that if you do not have any smoke alarms in your house, the fire department will come and install them free of charge, just contact Donna at Village Kids Homebased.

Our time At Dawn's

As you drive up to Dawn's you are greeted by a friendly sign that welcomes the children as they arrive for the day. Dawn engages in play with the children aware of their individual interests and developmental needs. Today she was promoting active movement by exploring gross motor skills as well as having fun and learning new ways to communicate to make the see-saw go! Everyday is a funfilled learning experience for children who go to Dawn's place.

Boogie down at the Disco

We visited a new music group with a twist - Big,Little Disco in Taradale. First impressions were a little daunting as the room was dark and she hadn't visited this place before, with a little encouragement she became familiar with the environment and once the music and bubble machine started there was no stopping her. This new venue gives children opportunities to explore what their bodies can do, engaging in promoting active movement through music and movement.
